Abstract
This resource describes how to automatically calculate, with a python macro in the Abaqus finite-element code, the bending natural frequencies of a bar with an arc-shaped cavity, whose two geometric parameters vary within a given set of values. This makes it possible to select the optimum parameters for a given criterion.
Secondly, the simulation of transient vibrations, under the action of an impulse force, are described, either by a direct calculation or by a modal calculation. The latter allows the effect of rigid body modes to be filtered out, reducing simulation time.
